Hello Folks,

I bought a new Toshiba Satelitte P205D. It has Vista on it and I HATE IT. I installed Ubuntu 7.10, but got a lot of stuff that did not work. ( ie: wireless not recognized, ATI drivers, Power management issues, etc.)

I asked about this before and was given a couple of links that seemed way to complicated for me. So here are 2 questions.

1)Will Hardy take care of most of these issues (since it is LTS)

2)If not, is there a simple way to resolve them.

HELP. I want out of the MS Vista world as quickly a possible. My old laptop had Ubuntu 7.10 on it and I miss it. Having shelved out money for this new machine, I want the benefits of the new hardware and Ubuntu.

Thanks, Loyaleagle:

From what I can dig up, it looks like Hardy will work better with that satellite model, except for WUBI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wubi_(Ubuntu)). If it means not using vista, I think giving hardy a go can't hurt :).

in my experience, hardy has better hardware compability than gutsy (7.10)
give it a shot, try the live CD and see how it works.
