Before I installed ubuntu, I was getting connections rated "very good" and they were very fast. Now, my connection is down in the 30%'s and my internet is getting slower and slower. Is there any way to boost my connection?

With the madwifi driver you can boost the transmission power. This may be possible with ra based cards, however I believe with other wireless chipsets this feature will not work. A better solution -- flash your router (if you can) with the dd-wrt firmware. You could then tinker with the setttings and boost the transmission power of the router if you wanted. (Increase the transmission power 6x).
