BBC flash video wont load

now every time I go to watch a BBC video all it does is show the revolving loading symbol.
Youtube is fine, cnn is fine, even fox, cbs, abc is fine.
I am using adobe nonfree flash player

you need a pluggin, the mplayer for mozilla.
sudo apt-get install mozilla-mplayer

as recommendation:
you must install all the packages gstreamer and ubuntu restricted extras.
also you install the program: mplayer mencoder ffmpeg

sudo apt-get install mplayer mencoder ffmpeg

This allows you to have many codecs in your computer, also you can update the program add the repository medibuntu and you install others codecs: w32codecs (or w64codecs for ubuntu 64 bits)
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install w32codecs

Already have those installed. The new BBC video format is flash, not wmv.

This is more bbc website design problem or adobe problem than ubuntu, they probably didn't take into account the linux version of flash.
It also fails with the Opera Browser as well using the latest non beta flash plugin.

Do you have any other plugin for flash causing firefox to get confused?

your filename is different from mine. Which might be the problem.
You could try uninstalling it and reinstalling it using synaptic
When you uninstall flash, include the configuration files

This appears to be Compiz related.

I was having exactly the same problem with any Flash video on the BBC sites, until I discovered however that turning off desktop effects fixes the problem and flash will load pretty much first time every time.
