I don't think that Intel graphics have direct rendering.

I have a GMA950 on one of my laptops. Can you tell me how to get Direct Rendering working? :D

What driver is set for your intel controller? You can check in System>Administration>Screens and Graphics.

I do not have that under my administration menu

although when I run cedga i get this:

screens and graphics has been moved to Other. R.click applications>edit menus>Other - check box to enable

Basically, Intel does not support direct-rendering on ANY platform (Windows, Mac, etc.). I hate it.

If you want to run compiz fusion just do this:

LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 compiz ccp && emerald --replace

or you can compile or install compiz-fusion icon.
