What sort of broadband? Cable, ADSL, wireless?

Is the modem connected through Ethernet or through USB? If it has an Ethernet port, that's what you should use. Usually, the username and password is something that you put into the modem's web-based interface, so the modem will connect without you having to explicitly connect. You should look in the manual that came with your modem, for instructions on whether there is a web-based interface, and if so how to get to it.

I don't fully understand what you are saying but, If you mean wireless with ssid and wep/wpa key. Look for the network on the top right of the screen, a pup-up will appear -> put in your wep/wpa key there.

If you are talking about a wired conenction, I never heard that a broadband connection need those things, but I'm sure the network manager will display a pop-up where you can enter that information.

Usually to enter a modem's web interface you put the following address into your browser:

http://192.168.100.1

if that doesn't work, check the modem manual for help...
