Unable to Turn off

Hi all,
I use ubuntu 7.10 and im unable to shut down using the power buttons .If i click on the red power button , everything just freezes.so i have to a alt+ctrl+f1 , then press alt+ctrl+del to shut down .This has only happened once i installed the ubuntu tweak software.any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this will help but you could also try this before upgrading to 8.04 when it comes out real soon :)

Into terminal mode (ctrl-alt-f1):

sudo shutdown -h now (then press enter to shut down properly :)

hey thanks for the reply john,
im at work as of now , would surely try this when i get back home.
And yes you are right i'll try to get this sorted else would format drive.
