Hi,
Although I'm new to the forums I've been using linux for some time. The problem I'm having is the following.
I have an X-Fi Xtreme Gamer.
I installed the X-Fi Beta drivers ( XFiDrv_Linux_US-1.18 ) released April 18, 2008.
I still cannot get the sound going.
The onboard audio does work, but I wanted to get the X-Fi working, since its a pain in the rear to keep re-connecting the speakers whenever I choose to run Linux/WinXP.
I did searche around, tried many of the proposed solutions, but they didn't work for me.
Among the things I tried already are
installing linux-backports-modules-generic
(re)installing
linux-sound-base
alsa-base
alsa-utils
installing alsa-oss
