I'm planning to start a twice-a-year poll to gauge just how well known Linux is in your location. This is the first one this year (and ever), and I'll post another one when we get near to Intrepid's release.

For the poll, tick all that apply. Please don't tick contradicting options, as this skews things.

For the last 2 options, tick the box which is the majority (for example, if you know 5 people who use Linux, if 3 know it's Linux, tick the last option.

I was inspired by a comment on a YouTube Compiz video, where someone said it was the first time they had ever heard of Linux.

(Poll will be up shortly)

Me, My brother, My Girlfriend, My cousin, Her (cousin) Step father, My Grandparents all use Ubuntu.

My cousin then has many friends who use a variety of distributions.

Everyone else I know uses Firefox, some have begun using applications such as Open Office and GIMP.

The reasons not for using Linux amongst the people are games and specialist software such as AutoCAD or various Audio tool etc. The main reason though is probably a reluctance to change (such as my mother) or the computer concerned being a family computer etc.

Yeah, It's too hard to come up with a scale, as there are too many factors.
