I feel like I spend half my time in Inkscape moving panels around. They feel like they're always in the way.

Why not use a simple docking system like illustrator?

i think, in 0.46 docking is enabled by default.

I have the same complaint about GIMP. More than 60% of the time I am trying to get to the appropriate panel.

agreed, i hate applications that use more than 1 window.

It sure is. Thanks for the tip. The Inkscape team implemented the docking panels beautifully.

Yes I agree, one window feels more organized. I do not mind the multi enough to seek an alternative though, gimp is great.

thats because its an MDI ( Multiple Document Interface) , where multiple window has a single parent window, its the same as docking, but a bit more convenient to move around.
