OK I guess this is a bit silly... but there are many osx-ish and a few windows-ish gtk themes...
I'm wondering if anyone has made a sort of ascii/ansi/ncurses theme.
I think it would be kind of neat for those days where you want you desktop black with amber or green (just to look 31337).

Bah, just do the real thing. Do a 'server' install run aptitude for package manager, get gpm for mouse support, and screen for multiplexing the console, use mc for filemanager/reader/editor, use emacs or vim for serious editing. You have centericq for messaging, mutt for mail, links for www, and there's even a music play that I can't remember... ;)
More on-topic, but not quite, there is twin - http://linuz.sns.it/~max/twin/

LOL. As for the console stuff I can use: apt-get, nano, links, wget, dosbox, and various players (i.e uade), the other stuff is too advanced ;)
Anyway twin looks pretty neat, but the neat thing with a GTK theme (besides people asking why :) ) is that you could produce a "hi-res" ansi theme and use your favorite GTK apps.
If it's not too hard I might make a simple/incomplete theme (gpl' it of course) and stick it on gnome-look.
Anyway great reply.
P.S I'm not sure why but I don't like aptitude, I think I lack aptitude for it

Any good pics (I know pics of text is a bit odd) that could serve as inspiration.
As for colorful stuff there is ZZT.

A fun game, been freeware for years (sourcecode was lost by the author...) and runs great in DOSBox...
