I see others enjoying so much the FIFA soccer game in Windows. I am die hard Linux user and do not want to touch anything else. Is there anything equivalent in Ubuntu? Synaptic did not return anything useful.

Well football in not exactly my favorite game. I need it for my sons.
bygfoot is actually a manager, as you already indicated.

Yoda Soccer - link (http://yodasoccer.sourceforge.net/) Very cool, i love it (but different style of FIFA)
isoccer - link (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=747426) (we had just started the development)
open football - link (http://open-football.sourceforge.net/index.php/mediawiki/index.php/mediawiki/index.php) ("coming soon")
Slam Soccer 2006 - link (http://www.xenoage.com/bp2k6/en/screenshots.php) (the most similar to EA FIFA at the moment)
AND maybe you can find other interesting games, also for kids, there is one Karaoke, a Pinball, a Bomberman-like, maybe these ones could distract your kids, here: Games List (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=427205)
