I have a dual P2 333 box and a P3 600 box. I was just wondering which you guys think would be better for a server. Both will have the same amount of memory and the same hard drive.

but he has DUAL p2's, and whne you do the math it adds up to better performance in theory, in a practical sense maybe not, im not really familiar with p2's as i was like 8 when they were around, but i am not sure how well they handle lots of tasks running at the same time, im going to say p3 just because its newer which means it should last longer and with newer technology in it it may run just as well, maybe better evan tho its mhz is lower

I was leaning with the p3 just because boot would probably be quicker. Currently the web site is run on the dual p2 333's and it has worked fine for a good 4 years or better.

I'm not sure how well ubuntu handles duel processors thats why I say the P3 is probally better also the p3 is an updated processor with better threading support (if I have heard right) so it may be a better choice over even a duel p2.
