Gnome alt+f2 just flashes (so does panel properties)

Dang, two threads back to back. New installation and I went with gnome. When I press alt+f2 the screen just flashes. If I click the run icon I get:
could not launch application
not a launchable item.

Also, if I right click a panel and choose customize, I get the same flash. I installed gnome and gnome-extra so I should have everything but I obviously don't.

I saw the same post in arch forums also.the devels answer was to upgrade to latest Gnome-2.22 when it reaches main repository(or use testing) :D

Which is what I did. Loving gnome 2.22. :)
