Hi,
I have recently installed Fedora Core 6
on my dell latitude d820
with wireless device 3com 3c501 (installed)

the wifi on my computer is not working

on typing
/sbin/modprobe 3c501
i got the result FATAL:device not found
and
/sbin/modinfo 3c501
the driver info was not found

please help

Fedora is a Redhat derivative, Ubuntu is a Debian derivative - you're not likely to get much help here... try http://www.fedoraforum.org/

Indeed, I'll move this thread to Fedora/Redhat, but you might be better off asking in the fedora forum.

EDIT : Also, you're using a very old version of Fedora. Why not use the latest version?

I'm curious as to why you are running such an old version of Fedora. The newer versions have better wireless support.
Fedora 8 (current) (http://fedoraproject.org/en/get-fedora)
Fedora 9 (beta) (http://fedoraproject.org/en/get-prerelease)

Also, for a laptop I would recommend the LiveCD version, since a lot of the setup for the standard laptop stuff is already setup for you.
