So yeah, as the title say, well, sometime feels like most of the time, when I turn on my computer is go to the web browser. For video, Music, looking up random stuff.

I just wonder, it will be cool and fun, if there is a site, that have a range of Useful application such as IM, video like youtube, and music like Jamendo, and even TV. Or even better, a web base Linux live OS. The idea is let people try out Linux by simple go to a website. I mean of course, thing might be just a emulation, or maybe not as fast, but it is really good, to tell the world how Linus looks like, and possiblly how it work. well virtually. And you can manage all the site that you want to go like application. Of course, those site will be in like a application. I don't know how to explain it, sense nothing is out there yet.

here is another Idea, like I think would be it be good if we can go to website that is not inside a browser, do do whatever we are doing. like for saying ubuntu forms, under this idea, it will be just a page to page forum right on top of our, desktop background, the browser frame will be gone, well at less not visible.

I mean these idea is now how we usually work, but as too, it can be done. And possibly in it works better for whatever reason, Of course, what I just said is just a base idea that haven't get deep develop, but it could be great if it get further develop.

Not very practical at this point in time because the bandwidth cannot keep up.

I had an idea for a long time that some video games in the future will be streaming, meaning you will no longer have to install anything everything will be on another platform miles away and will stream to your computer at fast speeds at a very high resolution.

This will happen in a console form first, you buy a console capable of doing this and the company sells you time instead of the game, hardware will no longer matter as it will be done by super computers from somewhere else. Game graphics will evolve and you won't be restricted by the speed of your hardware.

no, there was seriously a web site where you could create an account and it was literally like ubuntu...only on the web. It had a place where you could upload photos, had a mp3 and video player, and some other stuff. I lost the link, but it was very cool....and it wasnt youos but im guessing it was similiar.

I kind of had the reverse idea of this actually. Instead of putting all the services, kernel components, applications, etc., why not just instead integrate web services into the desktop? It's becoming more and more possible with Mozilla Prism, Google Gears, etc. Eventually, it would be nice to see a Linux Distro completely capable of reaching across the internet in newer, simpler ways. And also, you'd be able to stream your desktop from one computer to another, kind of like Citrix.

THIS IS NOT SPAM

here is what i think you are looking for, http://eyeos.org

ive used it before. as i just tested out; it plays youtube and everything. although it isnt linux (not a gnome or kde interface) its very similar. it saves your last state with the icons. it can be run in the browser with only javascript needing to be enabled (no flas, plugins, nor java) or in its own downloadable stand-alone client

and its way faster than remote desktop over wan :KS

-edit- it doesnt come with an IM client, but you can use meebo.com for that

yeah that actually is a pretty cool little service. The only thing is I really wouldn't trust my data on their site.

Doesn't work - I can't create a new user as there's no "password" field, just "retype pass".

He has been doing it for a few years now, there is a new beta out which comes as livecd and web based, I find it very useful. He also has openoffice available in firefox. I think, as he puts it, it is the future. It is quite responsive on a decent bandwidth connection, and it has an ap for almost anything you need. As of now it is based on debian so will be familier to kubuntu users, as it runs kde.

Something you may be interested in is "Desktop Virtualisation." Basically you install what you call a "Thin Client" and use this client to connect to a server. This means that you can login to ANY PC and access your data from anywhere in the world. Its a great idea, but like I said, I just wouldn't be able to truse that people weren't looking at my data, stealing info etc. BTW I've read from several sources that Windows 7 may use Desktop Virtualisation - another reason not to use it ;)
