View Full Version : Is using a modified tux logo for a business legal?

I saw a billboard for a bath fixer company that had a modified version
of the tux logo(wasn't a very good mod either).
According to wikipediahttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Tux.svg
it is legal to use it for business if the copyright holders are credited.

So...is whoever owns that company a penguin-napper?

Go take a digi photo of the billboard and post it up and see what people say

without seeing it I can say that for some material you can actually use it if a certain percentage has been modified

i think in this country (New Zealand) its soemthing stupid like 15%

I'm pretty sure that Tux, like Linux, is trademarked by Linus T, with the explicit understanding that he's not going to sue anybody else that uses it as long as they don't misuse it (ie: try to claim ownership). But for a company and/or corporate entity, you should read up on this site here: http://www.linuxmark.org/ .
