The Maryland Loco team is developing one or more brochures as a handout for new users and those that might be interested in Ubuntu.

Once posted I'll edit this post with a link to what we have. Please take some time to look it over and post your comments here or send them to the mailing list.

Did this ever develop? If not, maybe I'll take a whack at a tri-fold PDF. Any suggestions regarding content?

Might be nice to indicate some stable, reasonably priced connection vendors in Maryland.

Clear and simple methods for setting up connections when local ISPs have no technical support or will not provide proper settings or values.

Short but functional system requirements and equipment list.

What computer hardware systems lend well to installation of Ubuntu?

Protecting writable BIOS settings?
Re-instating them without a Microsoft rescue disk.

Operating a straight Linux system with no crossover or dual booting Microsoft.

Suggestions for connecting and securing DSL.
Dial-up as an alternative if speed is not an issue.

Setting up a two way firewall. Blocking in and out.

Changing and adding various types of hardware. The basics.

A survey to see if folks would be interested in technical training for qualifying on Linux systems and Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Edbuntu, ETC.
