Yes, you heard me correctly!

THE Full Circle Gameathon!

So here's the plan:

I post Ronnie's idea and take all the credit for it
You guys come up with a selection of free and open source online games that we could play.
After a week or so, or after we have enough ideas, I'll post again with a poll so we can vote for a game
Once we have decided on a game, we'll find a kind person to host a full circle tournament, then come up with some rules
We'll set up a leader board, and we can compete for the title of "Full Circle Gamer of the Month" (or a better title if you can come up with one).
The person/thing that is leading at the time of the magazines release will be crowned the title we decide on.
At the end of the year, the person/thing that has won the most months will get "Full Circle Gamer of the Year"

We may also rotate the game each month, or every couple of months, depending on how it goes. If we do this we'll create a new poll so a new Game can be decided on.

Suggestions... Begin!

I've always enjoyed geosense, (http://geosense.net/) but kdice (http://www.kdice.com/) is my current fave. (I'm not sure if either is technically open source though).

Tremulous is definitely cool, and Urban Terror. Both of those should be included at some point in the year.

The way this is going there are just too many games that people are suggesting in too many categories. SOOOOOOOO why not split it into categories of GENRE, pick a game from each genre and have a champ for each of those GENRE's of game

that way then more people are happier, and more Open source games get publicity.

I think it would work really really well.

Or pick the 5 most popular so far and make a poll...

Oh no! People are thinking ahead! I should have listened to Ronnie...

The plan is this (it may change)... We'll leave this post open until slightly after issue #11. Once we're sure everyone has had chance to voice their game suggestion, we'll open a new post, and run a poll as to which game to play. If there are a lot of games, we'll play them all, and narrow it down to several genres of game, which are the best in each genre etc.. As we will rotate the game to keep everyone happy, don't worry if your game doesn't win the poll.

I've not had chance to talk to Ronnie about this yet, so I may have to edit this post...

In the mean time: Keep suggesting games and/or +1ing others =)

Nice. (Assault)Cube would be cool. +1 to Open Arena, Armagetron, and Urban Terror. Wesnoth should be included too! (Glest is an OK game, would prefer Warzone 2100 tough)

The results are in:

one vote each for: Geosense, Kdice, Glest, Frozen Bubble, Teewars, World of Padman, Warzone2100, Planeshift and Openlierox.

two votes each for: Armagedtron and Assault Cube.

four votes each for: Open Arena, BzFlag, Tremulous and Battle for Wesnoth.

But the winner, with five votes, is:

*drum roll*

Urban Terror

We'll get some sort of server up and running and post arrangements asap.

Thanks to all those who took the time to vote!
