Hey all, I'm pretty new at Linux but I installed Ubuntu 5.04 and got used to the Gnome interface. So I was pretty keen on on installing 5.10 but then I got KDE as the default interface.

First of all, does anyone know why they changed? Or perhaps I'm missing something fundamental?

And second! I then tried installing Gnome but when I rebooted my computer I got the message "Not starting KDE, it's not the default display interface" (or something similar). And then nothing happens.

Does anyone know what what I am doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Gnome is default in Ubuntu, KDE is default in Kubuntu, you must have picked Kubuntu instead of Ubuntu by mistake. Install the package ubuntu-desktop and then you'll get to choose between KDE and Gnome when you log in.
