In 2003, the CEO of the biggest Linux vendor is telling people that home users should just use Windows. (http://www.zdnet.co.uk/talkback/0,1000001161,39117575-39001068c-20014524o,00.htm)

Ubuntu must have made him to eat his words!!:) Haha

I don't see how Ubuntu figures into it at all. Matthew Szulik is well aware of Ubuntu's existence, and is making generalizations about Linux in general (Linux distros tend to share the same Linux kernel and even the same software applications).

I don't agree with him, however. I think home users with basic needs (web browser, music, email, photos, word processing) are the perfect target for Linux, and corporate environments (advanced MS Office, high-level Windows-only programs, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange) would actually have a more difficult time switching over.

For more details, read my little spiel on the Eee PC: I don’t know about “the desktop,” but Linux appears to be ready for the ultra-mobile PC (http://ubuntucat.wordpress.com/2008/03/15/i-dont-know-about-the-desktop-but-linux-appears-to-be-ready-for-the-ultra-mobile-pc/)

To be honest, I agree partly. People with some computer exprience, but not a lot ought to use Windows. Advanced or complete beginners could use something else.
