View Full Version : Tour de Forum

I was asked in the Absolute Beginner Forum if there was a thread that described how to use all the features here on the Forums. I found a couple really good ones, but some information was lacking. So maybe we could cull all the knowledge we have into one place to point users to. Kind of a portal thread, to keep down on clutter.

It might take a little bit to get everything taken care of, so this thread could serve as a place to put everything in the mean time.

That is, if the consensus is that it's needed.

I'll start off on the ones I've found (some of which are already stickied):
Why the forums use vBulletin (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=724506)
Thanks (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=702596)
Pictures, Titles, and Beans (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=239560)
How to search with Google (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=725302)
PMing and IMing Mods (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=317975)
How to Post Pictures or Files (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=463419)

Some may need to be rewritten with this idea in mind, and not just a response to an individual problem. And some ideas for more help would be an overview of all the options in the User Control Panel, subscribing to threads, color of names, and what the difference is between mods and admins is.

After a little work, we have it. How is it?

Nice. Very good arrangement. I'll see if there's anything I can help with on the tutorial thread.

I've wracked my brains and these are the issues that I think still need a little help:
How to search for help
User Control Panel overview
Subscribing/ed overview
Admins and Mods

I'm currently working on How To Search for Help, and will put it up as soon as I'm finished. Screenshots will have to wait until I'm at home on Ubuntu
