Real Player's ok- no malware. I use to use it all the time, but a few months ago I switched to xmms with streamtuner on the front end. Even though I've read that xmms is an old antiquated program, I like it a lot.

I don't see why you should be that excited, Real Player for Linux has been there for quite a while. And rest assured, despite what others say, Real Player for Linux is clean. Though I must admit that it is not very appealing since it can only play .rm or .rmvb files which means that Real Player for Linux is a stripped down version of the Windows version.

I simply don't understand people, they are always unsatisfied. If a company doesn't release linux software, then they are bad guys, because they are not supporting linux, when they finally release their software for linux, they complain about malware (which by the way doesnt exist in linux).

I think that this in fact good for linux since real network is recognizing a potential and alternative market, and by doing it it is supporting linux.

Yet... Linux is (mostly) safe from unwanted installation of software. But if the user installs the software, there is no reason why it shouldn't be malware. So yes, Realplayer could contain malware, if Real decided to put malware in it.
