Hi guys

Has anyone had to find a solution for storing large image files (jpg, png etc, > 5MB each) in an organisation? There many (hundreds of) thousands of images.

I'm trying to figure out what the best practice is for ensuring that they can be stored safely, easily searched, backed up, etc.
I initally thought that storing the files in a DB might work, but there are lots of folk against that idea.

Your thoughts are welcome :)

Cheers

I don't know if this is any help to you but why don't try this

http://www.pixelpost.org/

piece of software.

You can easily add tags to images and make them searchable.

You can run it on the intranet, or even the internet to make them accessible from everywhere.

It's MySQL/PHP based.

I'm sure there are better pieces of software for this but this might be handy, because everybody can use this easily.
