Will this chipset work 'out of the box' and which version of Ubuntu should I install (ie which version has a kernel that has the drivers installed)?

Google is failing me (can't find any recent info) and I want to convert my bro to Ubuntu :)

BTW this is the cheapy PC he is getting clicky (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?BB-AM366M)

Cheers

I am using a Nvidia Geforce 6150se Nforce430 and it works flawlessly with restricted drivers, and compiz works even with "best" filtering.

So far all Ubuntu-based distros work perfectly, including live cds.

Great! The last thing I want is a huge mess with the graphics drivers not working as they should.

Hopefully I have an old Dapper CD laying around as I don't want him to use the wonderful Hardy until its released.

how much ram do you have? Feisty would be a better choice if you have 512ram

Actually this is true. My total ram is 1024. Yes I am short on funds anyone willing to donate another gig of ram? :)

My ram consumed by the card is 146mb. So I have only 878 usable. Note I am joking above 878 is all I need.

Another GB of RAM for the PC in my 1st post is only £16.22 from Novatech, so memory costs peanuts these days ;)
