Ok, sorry in advance for three things
-if this is in the wrong place
-if it's so irrelevant it's a nuisance
-if there's another thread on this already (the forum software did its best to find similar threads - I may have ignored one or two)

My question is about the legalities of moderating such a huge forum as this so it's to the moderators or anyone interested.

My question is very specific however: Is the owner of the site liable for slander or libel between forum members?

If anyone could point me to a site on the net covering this I would be grateful. Sometimes it's just quicker to ask the likes of yerselves than trust google to find something quickly!

Cheers

I would suggest looking at .uk sites for info as I think UK common law would be applied. Reasoning for this is that the site is hosted in the UK, the domain is registered in the UK, the holding company is based in the Isle of Man.

You might want to contact Matthew East (mdke), he is a ubuntu community member as well as a UK barrister. He might be able to point you in the right direction.
