Charmel! Huwag nyo po hamakin inyo propesyon, OFW din tatay ko :)

Ako naman po ay future college student, graduating na ako from high school this coming Tuesday. Alam ko may mas bata pang mga linux users sa akin. I've read of someone from an OSDev forum who compiled his Gentoo linux all by himself. So hindi talaga surprising, sana lang I hold onto Ubuntu, I'm getting alot of frustrations po eh sa ngayon

Ako kasi I HAD TO live with Ubuntu kasi I deleted my Vista partition by accident. Now I am left with a barebones operating system barely able to play my mp3 the way I want it. Having to compile my webcam drivers, etc...ay naku...Pero you know what, happy ako, for some strange, masochistic reason, happy ako.To be able to use something that I might develop myself in the future, Yun ang promise ng Ubuntu sakin.

Me? I'm a complete scatterbrain, jack-of-all-trades, environmentalist, tinkerer, diver, farmer, self-taught, whatever! Started out as a chemical engineer, then, took a u-turn and tinkered with computers until I eventually started a printing business and so was happily forced to learn graphics editing. It's a tiring business but hey, it puts food on the table so I'm not complainin'.

Frustrations? Hmm...that's only when you have hardware incompatibility. So far, my Linux experience has been rewarding although because I have to exchange files with other businesses, I still have a few PC's running XP.

For my slow pc's, I just use Linux Puppy (Teenpup and Prism). Beats Ubuntu in the speed department big time. On an old Athlon XP1700 with 512MB RAM, Puppy boots in 25 seconds and shuts down in 7. Open Office opens in 3 seconds. It makes my dual-core cpu, 1GB RAM on Vista laptop look anemic.

And that ladies and gentlemen is the beauty of Linux. You have CHOICE!
