Latex deleting line

Does anybody know how to (in latex) to reverse the effect of \\ ?
Ie. I have a command which I am using which in one place leaves more spacing then I want. In that one case I want to delete a few lines is there a way to accomplish that?

You could fudge it with \vspace (http://www-hermes.desy.de/latex/ltx-163.html), e.g. \vspace{-2em}.
