View Full Version : Long time Idle staff -- Review needed?

March 5th, 2008, 09:03 PM
I have just been reviewing Staff Profiles, to see what levels of activity some of them are putting in, and quite alarmingly, some of the staff have not been seen for months.

Names that stick out are:

Darkmatter (http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=28291) -- He hasn't been seen since December 19th 2007. I know, from talking to him outside the forums, that he is taken up with Suse, and personal life.

Jenda (http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=17523) -- Not seen for 2 weeks, and he has told me himself on IRC that he has no longer got the time or commitment for staff duties in here.

mattisking (http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=2101) -- not seen for 2 weeks

Byen (http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=20123) -- Not seen since November 25th 2007

poofyhairguy (http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=2381) -- Not seen since August 13th 2007

panickedthumb (http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=1132) -- not seen since November 17th 2007

Saphira (http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=137589) -- Not seen for 5 days

It occurs to me that we have staff here who are no longer interested, or don't have the time to put into the forums anymore. However, there are people like myself, and many others in here, who are here everyday, and who have the experience and maturity needed to staff the forums. This would be worth looking into in My opinion.

Do you see any actions of these people that warrant review?

They are volunteers, and take time off. There are no time obligations when becoming staff, and one does what they can when they can.

Some spend a lot of time on, some less. All of them take breaks from time to time, and may be missing for a while.

There are no staff quotas as far as I know, and they are chosen by need, not number.

If they felt they were no longer going to be active on the forum, they would have informed the Admins.

Life happens. Some of the persons you mentioned have informed us they were going to be away. We are all volunteers, we all bring something different to the team, when we can, as much as we can. As long as the team handles what is needed to be handled, I do not see a problem with it.

We are aware of this . The Administration know why and will not make that public. Staffing issue are confidential
