I ran a poll a few days ago asking for a iTunes replacement. I didn't put in enough options. This is a new poll with more options.

Vote for your favorite music player!

"Other" option added to the poll, since there aren't enough spaces to list all the possibilities.

I voted "other" -- I use mpd (http://www.musicpd.org/) with sonata (http://sonata.berlios.de/) client. This is what it looks like in action:

I can't decide between banshee and Exaile. I love 'em both so much, it just seems to depend on pretty little things.

Exaile has the edge in plugins and how much it can do, but banshee's interface is a lot better.

I voted "other" i am still a huge fan of WMP, and so far nothing on linux compares IMO. I have rhythmbox, exaile and amarok installed but they all have problems. For instace exaile will not play the next track on my playlist, it just stops. that is very annoying. rhythmbox is best of the linux players i have tried. only because i was able to load my library from a windows share and none of the other could, or i couldn't figure out how.

Oddly enough not in the list..
VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)
Doesn't try to be pretty, low footprint, cross platform and plays it all.

What about XMMS?

It's compact and very easy to use.

Favorite audio player? I convert all of my music to WAVs and cat them into my speakers...

But seriously, I use Amarok.

Xmms is my second favourite player. I now am complete;y in love with rythmbox.
Amarok confuses the sh*t out of me, so I don't like it.

foobar2k is still the best, hands down, but it's annoying that it's not native.
Using Rhythmbox normally.
