Me and a couple of my co-workers have recently made the switch from Windows. I was wondering if there were any members in Jax. We are still fairly new to linux in general and could probably benefit from a local or nearby group meeting place.

We have a couple of members in Jacksonville. I recommend you join the mailing list ( https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/Ubuntu-us-fl ) if you have any questions. You can also join us in IRC in #ubuntu-us-fl. JaxLUG (http://www.jaxlug.org) is also a very good resource. They have their own mailing list and local meetings.

Welcome to the community!
Dan's right, join the mailing list and check out the meetings. But,to answer your question, I'm from Jax. From what I understand the JaxLUG (Linux User Group) isn't a bad scene, but I can only speak from hearsay.
The majority of community involvement I have is from school (ITT Tech) and from conferences (the recent Florida Linux Show, Defcon, Phreaknic, etc) though the LoCos seem like a killer scene to be a part of as well. Info on the IRC meetings can be found here (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FloridaTeam/Meetings) and are a great way to get involved.
Drop a line on the mailing list or PM me anytime, Glad to see some local users.

Hello!
I'm relatively new as well. I'm also in the Jacksonville area. I've never been to the JaxLUG meetings before, but I've heard good things about them too...
It's good to see other Jax people on here! :)

Hey,
I'm from the Jacksonville area, and currently attending FCCJ, mainly Kent Campus. I'm proud to say all of the computers in my home (2 laptops, a desktop, and a home server) are all running Ubuntu as of this past December. Feel free to drop me a line if anyones arranging a meeting or something. I've just subscribed to the mailing list.

I just installed Ubuntu Linux on one of my four computers to see how it does. This was on thursday, June 26, 2008, and so far it is OUTSTANDING!!!!
If this keeps up, I will switch from Windows XP to Ubuntu Linux on all my machines and recommend it to everyone.

I'm in Actionville. I've been to a couple of the JaxLUg meetings, and they're pretty cool. The two presentations that I've seen have been great. One on Xen, and the last one was on augmented reality. Informative to say the least.

<---- medical student here interested in seeing one of your presentations. I've already signed up on your mailing list. Been using Ubuntu now for over a year, but not really that knowledgeable about Linux in general. Do I just show up to your meetings or do I need an invite? Thanks.

I'm in Jacksonville. I go to FCCJ downtown campus, and have had my fair share of classes at kent. I'm currently taking a class at downtown an we're covering Ubuntu 7.10, but its mainly terminal, shell, kernal stuff, which I'm extremely anticipating every class.
Never attended a show, but I'm planning on DefCon for next year and hopefully make my way around to some local shows. Didn't think there were this many in Jacksonville.
Edit:
Oh yeah, signed up for the mailing list, also.

I'm also in Jacksonville and attending FCCJ Downtown and South Campus. Majoring in Database Technology. Witnessed Kevin Johnsons presentation last tuesday for the JaxLug meeting, it was awesome! I highly recommend going to the Jaxlug meetings when you can.
I run ubuntu 8.10 on my main machine which serves as a gateway firewall for the wireless and the internal network. Debian on a couple servers ,but I'm thinking about switching to ubuntu server for that as well.

I'm in Jax as well. Haven't made it out to a LUG meeting yet but if you need help feel free to ask. Not an expert but I work in software and have been on Ubuntu for around 2 years now.

Awesome. Hope to see you out at the Florida Linux Show as well. Several of us will be meeting up Sunday night before the show as a sort of meet & greet. Everyone is welcome to join us. More details will be available on the wiki as we get closer to show day.

Count me among the Jax crew! :D VERY new to LINUX, but VERY not-new to PC. Plan on seeing "huh?" posts from me as I muddle through my tri-boot setup (Ubuntu 9.10, W98SE, XP-PRO SP3). Hey, what's the point of being a geek if you can't make other geeks wonder "why would you do that, anyway?" :D

It would be great to get things started again in Jacksonville. We do have a couple of great members that live up that way! It would really cool in 2010 for the LoCo Participation State-wide to increase!
