Hey, I bought a Gateway Mx7118 about a year ago and I need to replace it (the thing is literally falling apart...I really wish I hadn't bought it). Anyway, I thought this time around I would buy a desktop. My price range will be between $400 and $500. I want an AMD processor (as powerful as I can get for my price range), NVIDIA video card and at least 1 gig of ram. I know I won't get any gaming PC for this price range, but I want the most powerful machine I can get for it.

So heres what I have found, a Lenovo 3000 J115 (http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/lenovo-3000-j115/4507-3118_7-32087060.html?tag=specs)

It seems pretty good, lots of video memory, a strong processor (well at least I think it is), and 1 gig of ram (1 gig is still a lot, right?). Is this a good computer? Will it run well with Ubuntu? And is that ram too slow? I thought they operated at 800MHz.

Any opinions about this desktop would be greatly appreciated. Any other desktop suggestions would be great too. Thanks so much!

It seems like the computer I found is outdated...so I guess I need another option. Its sad too...the one I found is so much better than the other Lenovo desktops they sell right now too.
