View Full Version : Brainstorm deletes duplicate idea submissions?

I'm positive I submitted an idea for Brainstorm a couple days ago, but now I can't find it -- not through a search (including 'Show Duplicates') nor through my profile. Even if an idea's been marked as Duplicate, shouldn't in show in both places?

Also, is there some way to promote 'duplicate' ideas over earlier ideas -- which might not be worded as clearly? I submitted a detailed idea for an Install Wizard and GUI for setting-up software RAID mirrors, and it doesn't make sense for it to just be ignored because someone earlier than I submitted a generic comment re "we need a GUI."

P.S. I know Brainstorm isn't directly affiliated with these forums but there's no feedback option on the Brainstorm page...

grrr! I just tried seaching again, this time on the exact opening wording "install wizard" and it finally found it. Yes, it's marked as a duplicate. So why isn't it accessible through the 'My Ideas' link? Also, it looks like the search mechanism is pretty limited, i.e., if I search on any of the obvious keywords in my post -- RAID, or mirror -- it doesn't find it.

Maybe I'll just post the unique elements of my idea as a comment to the 'leading' idea. I still think it should be handled better, though.

P.S. Here's my Dupe'd submission, http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/1855/
And here's the 1-paragraph submission it was Dupe'd in favor of, http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/item/531/

Being that Ubuntu required people using ShipIt to create Launchpad IDs, I wish we could use those Launchpad IDs to log into Brainstorm.

I have the same Problem.
I posted an Idea, which was there similar before,
but my Version was much more elaborated.

According to the Moderator Guidelines
Either the Other Idea should be marked a duplicate,
or the Description and the Votes from my Idea should be transfered.

And still there is no way to contact anyone from the moderator team. :(

..why is it not possible to login to ubuntu brainstorm with the same ID as on this forum?::..

Good question, IMHO.

Does the requirement on Ubuntu Brainstorm for separate registration of a new (and potentially different) userID to that of existing Forum members not open the door to an unsavoury prospect of ID usurpation by users who are not technically members of UF?

Does the present Ubuntu Brainstorm registration not offer the prospect to users who are not UF members of being able to sidestep the UF Code of Conduct?

Macros0, I added a comment to your idea dissing the other idea!

P.S. I've received comments from the moderators to my add'l Ideas re these problems with the way the system works.
