Mandrake bought Conectiva, another Linux distro, and so changed the name to Mandriva to reflect the change on April 7 05.

Aye, I remember that. There was a little dispute if it was a good Idea to change the name. But it seems that people got use to the new name :)

As long as a product continues to evolve, I really don't give a rat's <insert descriptive language here> what it's called.
