I presented my father in law got a laptop with XP loaded, but he's never used it. I think its just to complicated for him.

I run Ubuntu at home, and after I saw the ASUS EEE PC easy mode, I think I should dual boot his laptop with Ubuntu as the primary.

My dilemma is that I want the EEE PC like Easy Mode to come up so that he doesn't have to worry about all the technical details, and just uses the machine like he would a phone.

Hello

I like the Easy PC desktop as well -the tabbed interface by task. What I would actually like i for the tabs to be virtual desktops sorted by application domain like the ASUS and set up so the icons on that particular tab end up on that desktop when running.

Any ideas how to design a theme like this?

If I recall correctly, the distro used by the eeePC is Xandros.

So you might try finding the eeePC version of Xandros on torrents? :)
