Hi.
I didn't find a forum for Solaris OS but since it is based on BSD, I will post my question here.
I was thinking to evaluate "Solaris Express Developer Edition".
The minimum requirement for RAM is 750 MB
Why this?

Solaris is based on BSD?
Solaris has a stable ABI. That's the reason why it consumes a lot more ressources than you would think it needs to, AFAIK.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solaris_operating_system
It says it was based on SVR4.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_V_Release_4
"Traditionally, System V has been considered one of the two major "flavors" of UNIX, the other being BSD. "
ABI is the binary interface.
