I have a lot of used CDs that I will never have any use for. What can I do with them?

Stick them on the walls and ceiling and then put lamps all over the room. It would be dazzling :lolflag:

Frisbee anyone?

Keep a stack near your bed so if an intruder comes in you can throw them at him. You might want to practice, though.

I had a friend who put them in the microwave.. not very safe, but really cool to watch.:lolflag:

They also make excellent coasters.

I hear this all the time, but sometimes the precipitation from the cup goes into the hole and on my desk, defeating the purpose and suctioning the CD to the desk.

Glue them to the inside of a cardboard box with the top flaps open and use it as a convection oven... (Note: this only works in summer)

Are you talking about old CDs with Linux Distros on them? Because those I just leave in cafes as long as they're still supported.

Edit: Although that CD lamp is pretty cool.

Um, once I had a dream I started eating my CDs, they tasted good. But you may have digestion problems if you try it.

I will probably make one of those because I'm cheap unless it is about computers. :)

I do have a friends beast of a old VAIO desktop with a PII and no more than 256 RAM, I really don't know. Gentoo calls as I've never done it before. It'd take forever to compile though. :(

i have 2 P2s in my room and 2 P3s. both work better with linux. my friends just give me computers to salvage parts from, so i can kinda tinker with better settings and such...

Gawd... am I the only person who folds them up and puts them in the bin?

Well actually, I don't do that. I just store them next to my computer. After all, I might find a use for Xubuntu 6.10 for Itanium?

This is what my sister does:

1. Plant several rows of peas and beans in the garden.
2. Hang shiny cds on sticks or string between each bean/pea pole to frighten birds away.
3. Eat peas and beans, save cds for next year.

It also works with cherry trees, raspberries, etc :KS

I usually feed them to my shredder which has a slot specifically designed for CDs. The Windows Vista Easy Update DVD that came with my PC went through quite nicely.

My advisor in college did the "tack em to your wall face-out" thing. He had hundreds of Novell CDs on his wall because "it makes my office look bigger, thus removing the depression I slip into when I note how small my office is."

Also, you can take up skeet shooting.

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME:

My son and his friend used to amuse themselves by throwing them edge forward against the wall of his sleeping room. Most CDs shattered, leaving the room strewn with shards. Some were stuck into the wall. The dents are still there.

They then learned some new words from me.

It's not like you have to compile all 40 MB of the kernel sources. You only compile what that computer's hardware needs. That's a big part of what makes Gentoo so fast.

Well in it's 64MB RAM and PII at 300MHz, it's going to become a small home server. lol
