Will GPE install on an HP iPAQ hx2495? If anyone has tried it, or tried using a hx2700-series device, post your results please! (the only difference between the hx2495 and hx2795 is that the hx2795 has a fingerprint scanner)

Thanks!

I am currently trying to get the bootloader to install. None of it seems to be working! And, I have decided to use Opie instead of GPE for now.

I was able to get Linux to boot on my HX2490 using this tutorial (http://linuxtogo.org/gowiki/IpaqHx2750), but the screen is offset to the right by about 30 pixels. I hope to try out this rootfs (http://thera.be/my_public/my_projects/HX2790/2/) later today (which will hopefully correct the shifted display).

I only obtained my IPAQ a few days ago and have yet to spend much time on it. I intend to work on it in the future and am not too concerned about bricking my unit (I consider it to pretty much bricked right now with just WINCE on it).

I am disappointed that the unit doesn't have a USB host controller built in but am otherwise pretty impressed with the hardware.

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately I bricked my iPAQ by messing up the bootloader before noticing it (actually about 1 hour after it was posted). Oh well, it wasn't being used anyway, that was why I was installing Linux on it, to make it useful again. I am not sure if the warranty is still any good on it, if so then I will send it in to get it fixed, and if not, I may try to pick one up off eBay.
