I know is stupid...

But I found out how to make quick search in this forum (titles only) without having to wait between each search. Anybody guess how? :D

Making a new post, writing what I'm searching and answers will appear.

No waiting time in between each search :P

You said it yourself =D>

EDIT: Sorry I have misunderstood your post -- I guess I should applaud myself now...

Is not stupid! Is a better search function than the general forum search IMO for the same subject matter.

Have you experienced any strange behaviour of this new topic page when you use it this way? Do you get any mixed messages? See these related threads to explain what I mean:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=702917

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=705615

Some Forum member's signature says: "There are no stupid question, only stupid people". I am just wondering if I am stupidly missing something as to how the comparative topic search feature should be expected to work. Any ideas?

Considering the incredible repetition of topics on these forums, I found your thread title to be a friggin miracle.

If you go to Advanced Search:

http://ubuntuforums.org/search.php

And change it to "Search Titles Only", it searches the titles.

As far as I know, the search feature you are using searches titles only.

No comment, but I'm thinking something.

I actually noticed this recently myself.

I rarely post a new thread, so it took me a while.

I have misunderstood his post -- I've never actually started a thread myself on this forum. I had interpreted his post as meaning that instead of searching the forum he just posts a new thread and waits for people to answer. I've edited my earlier post to apologize.

True, but then you have to wait 20 seconds before searching again when the first search turns up no results. With the OP's method, you don't have to wait. Just backspace over the subject and start typing the new search terms.

That is exactly what I do. I find google provides me with way better results than using UF (or any forum's) search function.

As well it should. Google has dedicated machines for this, UF just has two servers (I think) that have to handle everything.

I find the best way to find anything here is to use google, and do this:

Say you want to find out about a specific problem, just type it in google, and put site:ubuntuforums.org behind the phrase. Like this

specific problem site:ubuntuforums.org

http://www.google.com/search?q=I%27m+bored+site%3Aubuntuforums.org&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=com.ubuntu:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

I also use the same trick to search to forum or use google.

The search function sucks.

I use google but instead of just this site I use the word Ubuntu (Of course this could just be Linux.) Mainly these forums are top result but also Linux blogs pop, which can be very helpful.
