I found this article on slashdot, and here is the link:

The question is, should we all start embracing and using IPv6 instead of IPv4? If so, how? It seems like a very confusing mess to me, to say the least.

Hey don't knock it. There are some of us who made *cough* a little bit of cash from Y2K'ing machines :)

This is a great read

I heard this 10yrs ago. I don't really see it as a problem, when push comes to shove it will happen. Most ISPs & Telcos are already running IPv6 on their backbones anyway, switching the clients over won't be hard.

Guys. Last I heard, the Chinese populace and the US Military are snatching up blocks of IPs like crazy. So, my take is that it won't be 2012, but probably 2010.

It sucks, though. I mean, my computer speeds up when I disable IPv6 -- both on Vista and on Ubuntu. (I use Vista so that I can test IE 7 against sites I build.)

the connection speed sucking with ipv6 enabled will not be a problem when ISP's and such switch to ipv6. ipv4 will probably be removed.

if ipv6 is eneabled on an ipv6 network its as fast as ever.(i really think they should just bite the bullet and start upgrading now. then they won't have to upgrade on this scale for hundreds of years and i can get a static ip for each of my computers.
