Hey all,

I was hoping to get everyone together so that we can start back up with our Ubuntu evangelizing!

It has been a while since we have had a meeting, but I think that we should try and see what we can come up with regarding our goal of getting Approved Status.

Please come by and make you voice heard.

Michael

I don't understand the question or the answer that follows.

We try to have weekly meetings in the IRC channel to talk about different things leading to us getting Approved status.

Michael

BTW: I created the new IRC room, #ubuntu-us-al, to abide by the new IRC naming standards.

I was at the IRC meeting last night. I was pretty quiet during the meeting as it was my first time in there and I basically wanted to get a feel at how things would go and see what kinds of ideas were thrown about. Everybody seemed pretty cool, too. I'm going to try and look at all the stuff here and see if there's someplace I could fit in and contribute to the cause.

I think I'll be coming back to the IRC meeting and I'll see if I can be a bit more vocal next time...

Thanks for coming by. That was our first meeting in months. Look around the Wiki site and see what you want to do. There are usually some of us in the IRC room at most hours of the day and night.

No one should ever be shy about speaking up. We are all new to the organization. There are no stupid questions. Heck, I am still a linux n00b and am running meetings and such.

Join the mailing list also, that will hopefully be kicking up soon again.

IRC is the Internet Relay Chat protocol. It is a chat room basically. We use this because a group of people can be together and have an actual meeting. We usually plan out our activities and discuss things that we want to accomplish.

Hope that this helps,
Michael

I have to say...it wasn't shyness that kept me from speaking, but rather a lack of answers. Most of the discussion I saw centered around LUG activities and since I've never been a member of one I couldn't be much help. :)

Well, since Alabama is SOOOOO technologically forward thinking :???: us and the Birmingham LUG tend to mix and mingle a lot. We share a lot of members, even those that do not use Ubuntu, but want to spread the OSS message.

I have gone up for 1 BALU event, and I plan on going for more. It is nice to have friends with common interests like linux.
