wireless chipset support

This is not another "recommend a wireless card" thread. And it's not specific to ubuntu (which is why I chose community chat instead of network).

What I'm trying to find is...what chipset for wireless cards seems to be the most active and best supported for linux.

I've been using an atheros based card using madwifi and it works in some distros out of the box. Some need some config, some I can't get working at all.

I see other chipsets such as prism2 orinoco etc.. which one of these seems to have the best and widest support in linux? I saw something that said cisco aironet card support is built into the kernel but couldn't find a card (quick search).

it hasnt been updated in a while, and if anyone has a better list, please tell me.

But anything with a Prism2 chipset I think is safe.

I've looked at all the links on card specific. More curious on which projects seem to be most active and wide spread throughout linux.

Does the last update seem true though on that link?
