I boot xp/ubuntu, using ubuntu as my primary OS and xp for certain games. What other Linux or non-Linux OSes does everyone like? What should I put on my third empty partition?

Really?
If you are serious, what makes OS2 so good? I only ask if you are serious because OS2 is the same era as win98 correct?

Why Gentoo cash????
Why not? Linux is basically Coke or Pepsi. Everyone prefers something different. Gentoo was the first version of Linux I learned on and was able to customize everything to the T. There is just something about grabbing the kernel and compiling everything with it manually and having the operating system built around what options you are going to use. I like Ubuntu because it is incredibly easy to use but Gentoo has thus far been far more stable for me.

Obviously, you might guess that Ubuntu is my fave. But I have a few 'second faves':
QNX: built-in-Canada OS mostly known as an embedded system, but has a desktop developer OS that's completely different from anything else - feel, form, setup; it's a hoot to configure and play with...:-D
EyeOS: portability, portability, portability...\\:D/
SkyOS: I really think that Robert Szeleney is on to something and I can hardly wait for Sky to move from beta to general release. But, I wonder if this process might be sped up with more than just one general programmer for the whole project...

After ubuntu I'd have to go with Linux Mint.

I was going to say SkyOS...I think it is just about right, but I can't see replacing a proprietary OS (Windows) with another one, simply because I think the guy has some good ideas. I also think that Robert hasn't thought through the rampant porting over of GPL stuff to his closed source OS...
My second favorite OS right now is PC-BSD, although if Haiku ever produces something usable, then that will get the second place. I loves me some BeOS. :)

I like Vista and XP. Both are great, despite the bad rap they get from some ppl. Honestly, it's up to you to decide wut u want. For some u hafta pay, and it also depends on what you want to use it for. Try playing around with other Linux distros. Maybe you'll find another one that you like :D

Correct on both counts. I think I'm more enamored, though, with what he's accomplished in a very short time. And, as for porting GPL stuff, there does seem to be a slight conflict of immediate interests, no?

As an Albertan, have you noticed how well the default colors in Unbuntu go with our landscape? Sort of brown on brown... on brown... on brown...

I use Ubuntu 100% on my laptop and desktop. I have Windows XP inside Virtual box but it never really gets used. I have some friends that toy around with other distros but seem to migrate back to Ubuntu or Mandrivia.:)
