Okay, this is a thread to have some fun and come up with your wackiest fantasy distros....

inspired from this post:

Dead Rat Linux!...Ubuntu Plus RatPoison with attitude.

Actually RatPoison has been shelfed and replaced by The Stump Window Manager (http://www.nongnu.org/stumpwm/),
which looks pretty awesome.

Could be called; PDX = Ubuntu + The Stump Window Manager (http://www.nongnu.org/stumpwm/) (why: Portland is also known by it's airport code; PDX, Portland also used to be called Stump Town)

Fantasy distros are fun to dream up.

(This looks like a game, want me to move it?)

SmugLinux : All quality GPL software, but for a high price to satisfy the need of humans to pay a lot to really enjoy the product.

(It is based on real scientific studies this proposal, and would likely work)

perfectiOS: recognizes all hardware and runs flawlessly.

Actually your right it is a game, the games forum move would be cool.

Already done, see Lindows (Linspire).

There is another, that was posted as well. It has only a root account, with no password set during setup.

It has no options for installing either, just a full disk install.

It used to be Lindows(The old Linspire) that had that "feature", but now I think I know what you are talking about when considering current affairs and happenings;).

No, it is a new distro. There was a thread recently on it. It isn't Linspire (Lindows).

I would dearly like to know this "new" distro, can you post a link to it?

Thanks for the link LaRoza:). And personally, not the type of distro I would be inclined to use, mostly due to the fact that it is very insecure compared to other distros by default.

Also, I think it is about time we stopped hijacking this thread. Lets just let the normal, to-topic discussion take place again:).

What? A thread on topic?

OperaNux : A live disk, CD or USB, that only has Opera in fullscreen, flash and java and the bare minimum to run that.

Meant to be a portable internet browser, good for kiosks and safe browsing.

Actually, there's on kinda like what you're describing
http://jinx-linux.sourceforge.net/
Doesn't fit all criteria, but it does have Opera.
There's also SliTaz, which is even smaller, but it has a LOT more than just a browser.

Anyway back OT
Foppian- The entire Debian repository on one floppy disk. Very compressed.

Term-Fusion Linux!
It has neither KDE nor GNOME. Just Compiz installed as window manager and some panel to put launchers on. Also all other fancy and flashy stuff installed: Avant, gDesklets, all super-mega-blaster Compiz plugins, (any other flashy app you know).

But here is the twist! The apps are neither from KDE, Gnome, XFCE, E17 or whatever. You got only apps with CLI interfaces running in xterms! :D irssi, ncmpc, elinks, rtorrent, finch, nethack...

:lolflag:

Just imagine how it looks like.

Actually, you wouldn't need a panel since Avant can be used as a panel.

Scrotux - Linux with balls!

On a more serious note, Kubuntustudio. The KDE apps are more suitable (IMO) for the serious artist.

Cl33n (http://cl33n.com/index.html) is similar to that, only it uses Firefox, not Opera.

If I had any programming skill at all, I would create something like:

E17
Gobolinux's file structure
A built in indexing function that is AI driven (it would know, for example, that I am looking for by my prior behavior, not by bringing me everything under the sun)
Task based modes (office, internet surfing, audio creation, etc.) with defined security and performance paradigm for each.
Built in lightweight HD encryption.
Built in anonymizing software (like Vidalia).

I'd call it MateOS, or something.

Dead Rat Linux

That is what Red Hat should have called it instead of Fedora!

A programmer-only-oriented Linux distro... meaning with hundreds of programming language compilers in their repos... no games (user programs the games), just like that..

Maybe name it as ProgNux... (program linux)

Maginux.

A Linux distro with a difference. You don't have to use keyboard and mouse at all. It reads your mind.
