Estoy de acuerdo si unimos los esfuerzos lograremos hacer muchos cambios en panamá, logrando que el Software Libre sea una realidad en Panamá.

Como le comentaba a avbravo he estado tratando de hacer que el la UTP se modernice y usen NetBeans y eclipse para enseñar Java y crear más programadores en Java, me dijo que hablaría con la encargada del área de programación.

Creo que este puede ser un buen proyecto para promocionar el SL, Java y Ubuntu conjuntamente.

Realmente hay que hacer que las universidades enfoques sus esfuerzos en la promoción del S.L. , muchas empresas lo estan utilizando y al terminar muchos estudiantes sus estudios , poseen grandes deficiencias y un desconocimiento total.

El Panama JUG es uno de los que traducen al español el IDE de Java NetBeans.

Hello, everyone.

I am a software developer (mainly Ruby and Java) living in the Washington, DC metropolitan area in the U.S. I am considering collaborating and/or relocating abroad at some point and am interested in meeting software developers in Panama.

I'll be visiting Panama next week for about a week, and was wondering if there are any of you who would be interested in getting together, for coffee, a meal, a technical group meeting, etc. Unfortunately, I only speak a very little Spanish. (I'm working on that.)

I've given presentations at various user groups and Open Spaces conferences, and would love to do the same for you (for no charge, of course), if you have a group that would be interested. Here are the presentations I have done:

1) Applying User Interface Design Guidelines to Source Code (about 1 hour)

This is based on my article at http://krbtech.wordpress.com. In addition to the presentation, I like to invite attendee participation. It becomes more lively that way, and I've gotten favorable feedback from participants.

2) Unix Command Line Productivity Tips (about 1 hour)

This has been a popular one too, and has a wide audience that includes pretty much anyone who works on a Mac or Unix machine, and even Windows machines with Cygwin installed. The slides are available at http://www.slideshare.net/keithrbennett/unix-command-line-productivity-tips.

3) What I Love About Ruby (about 20-30 minutes)

This is a very short presentation, but could be lengthened. It covers the Ruby language, but not Rails extensions to Ruby.

In addition to, or instead of, presenting myself, I would also be interested in attending your groups and learning from you.

Hi Keith, I recently started a small software development company and I am putting together a mixed staff of engineers interested in applying the right technology depending on the customer´s expectations.
We have debated a lot about ASP.NET and java, and for now, we are using the first (using C# since could potentially make the transition easier).
I am very interested in what you posted here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6506033) and would love to meet for a coffee and maybe some java/asp.net debating.
It know java for applications, not for web, but I believe it is the right way to go, but need some reassurance from someone with the experience.

It would be great if at least we stay in touch.
