New Phone

I am looking at getting a new mobile phone.

What are the favorites with members on here. I would like some thing 3G in a clamshell design that i could tinker with.

Any recommendations?

I am using moto razr2 V9. Its clamshell and 3G.

Not sure what you mean when you mention tinkering with it...I haven't bothered trying to mod the phone at all and likely never will.

It does connect to ubuntu just fine:
- USB port can be set to "data communications", "Memory card" or "USB printing".
When set to data comms I can use the motoV9 as a modem
When set to memory card the device is seen by ubuntu as a USB drive and mounted automatically. Can then easily add/delete video and sound files without using any sync software.
Have not used the printing setting.

My friend bought a late model sony erickson 3G phone and it amazed me how ubuntu recognised it immediately as a "modem" and networkmanager even had it as an available "wired connection" ready to select to connect.

Thanks, i will have a look at it. is it easy to share a calender between the phone and Ubuntu?
