Just wondering if Hardy Heron (64bit) will come with the latest UDF 2.5 support so I at least stand a chance of watch bly-ray dvd's.

I would like to know this also. I was given a DVD from a staff member at my school. She burned it with Vista, I couldn't read it on my Workstation. I had to put it into an XP machine. This needs to be added, it's happening more all the time, and the problem is only going to get bigger as more people burn DVD's with vista.

A while back I added this request to the ubuntu idea pool.

have you tried any kernel patchs or tricked up compiled kernels. I've tried both and had no luck at all. Can't find any UDF 2.5 info for Hardy heron anywhere. Really want to watch blu-ray as have a top hd projector in the den.

I tried once but I did something wrong. I really haven't become very good at compiling custom kernels yet.

Please, look this thread in order to avoid building your own kernel:

It's a temporary hack until all necessary udf 2.5 patches get into the hardy kernel.

Best regards.

Feature freeze is in force, so this isn't going to happen. I'm afraid compiling your own kernel is the only way.

bruce89, no, you didn't understand. I'm linking to another thread I myself opened, where you are going to find the source for compiling the udf module yourself, without the need to compile the full kernel.
