View Full Version : POLL: What is your screen resolution?

NovaAesa

What screen resolution does everyone have? I was thinking about this just now so decided to make a poll. If you happen to be lucky and have more than one computer or more than one screen, just report which one you use most of the time. If you use them both most of the time, just report the most impressive one :)

what i want to know is why you need to go above 20inch to get high than 1280x1024. they used to make higher res CRTs. and they do much higher PPIs for smaller displays.

I have a very odd resoltuion. 1152x864. It's the perfect resolution for my monitor though. I'm using the ATI xpress 200 (IGP) and it's part of fglrx, so it's not some custom resolution or anything.

For most CRTs shouldn't 1280*1024 be 1280*960 to get the correct aspect ratio?

It is offtopic, but yes, you're right, it should be 1280x960:

There is much speculation on the origin of SXGA. Some believe its use began back in the mid-1980s, as an upgrade from XGA 1024×768. At the time, memory was extremely expensive. Using 1280×1024 at 8-bit color depth allowed 1.25 MiB of video RAM usage, fitting nicely with available RAM chip sizes.

1280x800 laptop, 1280x1024 on the file server... It's amazing what that 4 year old desktop thing can pull off. SiS onboard graphics chipset and an unbelievably old-looking CTX monitor. Looks like it was designed to run '98 shortly after it was released.
