I'm thinking about switching my desktop to Sabayon (and staying with Ubuntu on my home server).

I'm tired of not having a working X-fi card under ubuntu - has anyone here got the creative X-fi drivers working with Sabayon?

I've searched their forums but not found anything helpful (well, nothing in english anyway).

It isn't an Ubuntu problem. It a Creative problem not supporting Linux users. Today appeared this article in Phoronix. There are open source drivers on they way, but they are very difficult to create if no help is offered by the manufacturer.

I know it's not an ubuntu-specific problem - sorry if I gave that impression.

Thanks for the link, very interesting. At least something is going on behind the scenes!

I would still like to hear from any sabayon/X-fi users though.
