I get this error message when I try to update the x-common ver 1.08 from the gui updater. Does anyone have any recomendations?
E: /var/cache/apt/archives/x-common_1.08_all.deb: trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/X11/fonts', which is also in package xfonts-base

I'm having the same problem and several others have mentioned it in the forums. Here's a thread w/ a work-around BUT some are waiting for the developers to fix the problem, which is also reasonable. Here's the first threadWorkaround for x-common thread (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=68500)
There was an earlier thread talking about this and people were weighing in on whether to use the work-around or wait for the dev's to fix it X-common workaround discussion (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=68477&highlight=breezy+x-common)
Personally, I'm waiting for a work-around as I've had problems in the past installing new fonts and this causing Usplash to exit prematurely (may have no relation). Anyway, here's the Bugzilla ID #16182.
Well, that's all I have to say about that.

Thank you, I will wait until the devs come up with a fix. When I use some 3rd party fixes, something else usually goes buggy.
