I have it as my basic OS, I have upgraded it long before the FeatureFreeze )) , and I am very happy about it. Definitely, there are bugs, but still the system is quite stable )) It is a wonderful feeling when every day during the installation of updates I see how the system becomes more and more ideal )) I love Xubuntu ))

I don't believe so. The KDE4 live disc still seems to be the Gutsy release from Jan 11. Looking at the screens shots HERE (http://www.thecodingstudio.com/opensource/linux/screenshots/index.php?linux_distribution_sm=Kubuntu%208.04%20H ardy%20Heron%20Alpha%204) it looks like the standard live disc comes with KDE 3.5.8. I really like the new Wallpaper and KDM. Great choice!

It's great that the defauly BitTorrent program has been finally upgarded to something better, but wouldnt Deluge be a LOT better than Transmission, especially when it comes to torrent file-selection before downloading...

Finally available ;)
Just wondering: Why "finally?" It's an alpha release. Is there something in there that is particularly interesting?

Any word on the new artwork for Hardy? Isn't it supposed to get a complete makeover? If so, wouldn't it be time to show at least some bits of it?

No, the complete makeover will happen in Hardy+1. Hardy will have part of the changes to go into that release. You can expect a new theme engine (either Murrine or Clearlooks), new panel icons, new wallpaper and maybe new Metacity.

alright now is the time I give hardy a shot, at least on the live.
I usually wait till alpha 4 to give my tests as usually the first three alphas run like crap, alpha 4 is about a few steps away from beta 1...
Then I usually give the beta a shot at beta 4 if it reaches it and then wait till RC 2 to see if the actual release is any different (as really most of the time RC2 is practically the official release most of the time anyway)

I have upgraded my Gutsy to Alpha 3, and everything was perfectly fine, except for a few things that I could easily fix.

Tried to install using the install CD but the installation (Hardy Alpha 4) menus don't fit the 800x600 menu.

What is more frustrating is that they keep important buttons are at the bottom and get cut-off.

Mind you the monitor is capable of 1680x1050 resolution but the due to the poor nature of recognising popular monitors in the Asia-Pacific region (Chimei CMV monitor), the max resolution is 800x600. Note the Nvidia graphic drivers from Nvidia can determine the monitor perfectly.

Also with the release of more and more UMPCs with these non resizable menus they are shooting themself in the foot.

Well I for one don't like the Kubuntu wallpaper but that don't matter.

What I want to know is what we can expect from the next version of GNOME? Version 2.22 is it? RoadMap (http://live.gnome.org/RoadMap).

I like the thing that Epiphany is going to use Webkit as its engine instead of Gecko 1.8
There are other interesting things, but if I understand it right, many small bugs will be fixed too: like for instance positioning of applets when the panel size changes
